This morning, Prof. Mohamed Abdinoor Dahir, CEO of Education for Africa (EFA), had the distinct pleasure of officially opening the EFA University Students’ Conference. Spanning five invigorating days, the conference rallied under the electrifying theme: “High Ambition, Revive the Nation.” It’s more than just words—it’s a rallying cry, a bold declaration that ambitious goals are the spark needed to revitalize and propel nations forward.

Imagine a room filled with eager university students, their faces alight with determination, ready to tackle the continent’s challenges. Prof. Dahir, a visionary leader in education and empowerment, set the tone with opening remarks that resonated deeply. Drawing from EFA’s core mission to empower diverse African communities through quality education, sustainable livelihoods, good governance, and peace, he emphasized that true national revival demands more than dreams—it requires action.

“High ambition revives the nation,” Prof. Dahir proclaimed, echoing the theme’s essence. But he didn’t stop there. He outlined four pivotal pillars essential for turning ambition into reality:

Clear Vision: A well-defined plan and set of goals acts as the roadmap. Without it, even the loftiest ambitions can veer off course. As EFA’s vision states, “Transforming Africa’s Destiny: Empowering Lives, Inspiring Change, Nurturing Future Generations,” this clarity is about creating a continent where every citizen embraces dignity and purpose through equitable education and economic empowerment.

Collective Effort: No one revives a nation alone. Prof. Dahir stressed collaboration among citizens, leaders, and stakeholders—mirroring EFA’s theory of change, which believes that empowering marginalized communities, including women and people with disabilities, to fulfill their civic duties fosters a well-informed society that drives growth and good governance.

Resilience: In the face of setbacks, perseverance is key. Africa’s journey is fraught with challenges like climate change and inequality, but as stewards of the environment, EFA addresses these through sustainable initiatives, safeguarding well-being for generations to come.

Accountability: Regular assessment ensures progress stays on track. This aligns with EFA’s values of sincerity, professionalism, accountability, sustainability, and excellence—principles that build trust and drive continuous improvement.

These insights weren’t abstract; they were grounded in EFA’s real-world impact. As a non-profit dedicated to breaking cycles of poverty and inequality, EFA promotes access to quality education for underprivileged children, mentors youth in leadership and life skills, and champions human rights, democratic governance, and peacebuilding. Through unwavering dedication and partnerships, EFA envisions an inclusive Africa where every child grows into a responsible, active citizen.

The conference’s momentum doesn’t end in Nairobi. In a thrilling announcement, Prof. Dahir revealed that EFA will sponsor 10 outstanding university student leaders to attend the 4th Africa-Asia Youth Forum (AAYF) on October 29-30, 2025, at the Kenya School of Government. Co-hosted by EFA and organized by O-YES Global Foundation, AAYF 2025 brought together 200 young leaders from across continents under the theme “Youth as Drivers of Peace, Innovation, and Economic Growth.” This forum, attended by dignitaries like H.E. Kang Hyung-Shik, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kenya, and Dr. Fatuma Adan, IGAD Head of Mission to Kenya, focused on cross-continental collaboration, youth migration, empowerment, and sustainable solutions. With 250 in-person participants and over 700 virtual attendees, it was a powerhouse of ideas, recognizing organizations like RACIDA for their contributions to youth empowerment and Africa-Asia partnerships.

Prof. Dahir’s involvement in such events underscores EFA’s commitment to nurturing leaders who positively impact their communities. As he noted, “Together with our partners and stakeholders, we embrace diversity, foster inclusivity, and collaborate tirelessly to build a continent where every African can live a life of dignity, purpose, and prosperity.”

This conference isn’t just an event—it’s a movement. It challenges young Africans to harness their potential, much like EFA’s programs in education capacity building, youth mentorship, and advocacy. If high ambition truly revives the nation, then gatherings like this are the fuel. Join the journey: Support EFA’s initiatives, attend future forums, and let’s revive Africa, one ambitious step at a time.

Discover how Prof. Mohamed Abdinoor Dahir ignited youth ambition at the EFA Conference, sharing keys to national revival and announcing sponsorships for AAYF 2025.
